Arsenal were the visitors to the Valley to play Birmingham in the reverse fixture after their first game only five days ago.  The first half saw Arsenal play some excellent football to show why they are again favourites to win the Premier League.  Their accurate, quick and sharp passing created a number of chances in the first half and they scored from three of these chances with goals from Lianne Sanderson (15 minutes) Kelly Smith (29 minutes and Karen Carney (34 minutes).

However, the second half saw a more determined Birmingham display with the Blues forwards creating chances of their own.  Although Birmingham has lost twice to the league leaders, this young Birmingham side showed with their displays against a very experienced Arsenal team that they can look to the future with a lot of hope.  Together with a new sponsorship deal with insurance giants AIG the club has a lot to look forward to  next season.

This Sunday Birmingham take on Charlton Ladies at home with a 2:00pm kick off.
