USA

A number of BCLFC players have achieved scholarships to study and play football in the USA. Two examples of players who have done exceptionally well on the other side of the pond are:

Jodie McGuckin’s team Lee University won Regular Season Champions, Conference Tournament Champions and NAIA Region XIII champions. Jodie herself received an honourable mention in the NAIA All American and made the All Conference team.

Claire Ramsdale was chosen in the all American team for the second time in three seasons after an excellent year in 2005 with Carson-Newman.

In addition, Laura Bassett and Ellen Maggs went to the States for the 2006 summer season to play for New York Magic in the W-League.

BCLFC receive numerous requests from teams in the States to put forward players to go and play for them.  With the opportunities increasing this side of the pond, moves to the USA have not been so popular in the last couple of years but, if you would like more information on the opportunities that are out there, there will be someone to talk to about this at the Open Day.
